Juventus are reportedly weighing up a summer move for Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario as Michele Di Gregorio’s recent errors raise doubts.
Juventus could enter the race to sign Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario this summer as doubts grow over the performances of current No.1 Michele Di Gregorio. Reports in Italy suggest the Bianconeri are increasingly concerned after a string of costly mistakes in recent weeks.
Di Gregorio has faced criticism following high-profile errors against Lazio, Inter and most recently Como. Juventus as a whole are enduring a difficult spell, having lost four of their last five matches across all competitions while conceding 15 goals in that run.
According to reports, Juventus are considering reinforcing their goalkeeping department in the upcoming transfer window. The club had previously explored a move for Mike Maignan, but the Frenchman ended speculation by signing a long-term contract renewal with AC Milan in January.
Juventus are also understood to be prioritising the addition of another Italian starter to their squad. At present, aside from Di Gregorio, only Andrea Cambiaso and Manuel Locatelli are regular Italian names in the Bianconeri’s starting XI, increasing the appeal of a domestic option between the posts.
Vicario has emerged as the leading candidate. The Tottenham goalkeeper has also been linked with a potential move to Inter, setting up the possibility of a transfer battle between the Derby d’Italia rivals for his signature.
Now 30 years old and entering the final two years of his contract in north London this summer, Vicario is reportedly open to a return to Serie A. That contractual situation could limit Tottenham’s asking price to somewhere in the region of €25m–€30m.
Financially, a deal would appear feasible for Juventus. Vicario is believed to earn around €4.5m per season at Tottenham, a figure that aligns with the club’s current wage structure and would not significantly disrupt their salary framework if a move materialises.
