Bayern legend Thomas Müller believes his former club has the quality and mindset to reach the Champions League final this season.

Bayern Munich legend Thomas Müller has expressed strong confidence in his former club’s chances of reaching the Champions League final this season.

Now playing for MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps, Müller remains closely connected to Bayern, where he enjoyed a glittering career that included Champions League triumphs in 2012/13 and 2019/20.

The German icon believes the current Bayern side are well-equipped to challenge for Europe’s biggest prize once again.

“I say they’ll make it to the final,” Müller said in an interview. Müller highlighted Bayern’s tactical organisation as a major strength, noting that the team is well-drilled and capable of adapting to different opponents.

He also pointed to the quality of individual players, particularly at the back, where Bayern are “especially well stocked defensively in terms of personnel.”

The former forward also stressed the importance of fitness in attack, suggesting Bayern’s chances could hinge on key players staying healthy. He singled out Harry Kane and Michael Olise as crucial figures, adding that their availability throughout the spring could make a decisive difference.

Beyond tactics and personnel, Müller believes there is a strong mentality within the squad. According to him, Bayern are playing with visible confidence and hunger, traits that have historically carried the club deep into Champions League campaigns.

Bayern secured qualification for the round of 16 after finishing second in the league phase, with the next stage set to be played in March.

Bayern have also been excellent this season in terms of form both domestically and on the continent. They lead the Bundesliga table with six points, having lost just one game all season.

The same applies to the UEFA Champions League. Their only defeat in the UCL this season came at the hands of Arsenal. Bayern Munich still finished second in the league phase, putting them in a good position during the knockout draws. Bayern are seen as one of the favorites to win the competition and it won’t be a surprise if they go all the way
