Chelsea are seriously considering a move for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap in the summer transfer window.
The club are on the hunt for a striker, with Enzo Maresca eager to add another attacking option to his squad. Liam Delap fits the kind of profile that the new ownership have outlined in their vision for the club – young players with reasonable transfer fees and moderate wages.
Delap has impressed since moving from Manchester City to Ipswich Town last summer for a £20 million fee. The 22-year-old Englishman has scored 12 goals in 30 Premier League appearances. However, the recently promoted Ipswich have struggled in the top flight and are facing relegation this season. If the club go down, Delap has a clause in his contract that will allow him to leave for £30 million.
Delap is not Chelsea’s only summer target, with the Blues also looking at Napoli striker Victor Osimhen (on loan at Galatasaray), RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, Lille’s Jonathan David, and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.
Ipswich Town’s main man is also a target for other Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle. Abroad, he has attracted the attention of top clubs such as Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and AC Milan.
