Tottenham have just done a huge favour for London rivals Arsenal, following the 2-2 draw against Manchester City.

The gap between Arsenal and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table just increased to seven points, following Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Leeds United yesterday. By reason of that result, City needed to win handsomely against Tottenham if they wanted to keep pressure on the league leaders.

That win would, however, elude Manchester City as they ended up losing a two-goal lead to Tottenham, playing out a 2-2 draw.

Manchester City started the game in fine fashion, with Cherki scoring in the 11th minute. A couple of minutes, Cherki showed his class by dribbling past Romero, setting his next marker on the floor, but failing courtesy of an impressive save by Vicario to hit the back of the net.

Manchester City would eventually double their lead just before half-time through Semenyo.

The Tottenham Hotspur stadium was filled with groans as Thomas Frank and his men seemed to be heading for another loss, but things turned around in the 53rd minute. Solanke muscled past Khushanov and, by a stroke of fortune, found the back of the net.

Suddenly, Tottenham had belief. They muscled City, kept their concentration, and by a stroke of luck and incredible finesse, they got a second goal as Solanke scored a scorpion kick to make it 2-2.

This time, Tottenham fans weren’t the only ones believing; Arsenal fans were too. A draw or win for Tottenham meant Arsenal would have little respite in the title race, as Villa had also lost against Brentford in a Sunday fixture.

As the referee blew for full-time, there was joy all over North London as Tottenham fans were celebrating a draw and Arsenal fans were celebrating with regard to the title race.

Last week, it was Manchester United who did a favour for their rivals, Manchester City, by beating Arsenal 3-2. This week, it is Arsenal who have been favoured by their London rivals, Tottenham. The title race looks set to go down to the wire, but for now, Arsenal hold the edge, and Tottenham have played a part in it.
