Michael Olise starred off the bench as Bayern Munich came from behind to thrash RB Leipzig 5-1 and extend their Bundesliga lead to 11 points.
Olise produced a dazzling substitute performance as Bayern Munich maintained their unbeaten Bundesliga run with a ruthless 5-1 comeback win away to RB Leipzig, stretching their advantage at the top of the Bundesliga table to 11 points.
Bayern Munich, who have been formidable on the road this season, were under pressure from the outset and were fortunate not to fall behind early when Antonio Nusa steered Diomande’s cutback wide at the back post.
The visitors’ first real opening fell to Karl after Kane slid him through, but Karl failed to either test Peter Gulacsi or square for the unmarked Luis Díaz. Leipzig seized control moments later, with David Raum’s low cross expertly turned home by Romulo Cardoso to give the hosts a deserved lead.
Leipzig had chances to extend their advantage before the interval, most notably when Nusa blazed over from a promising position.
Bayern turned things around within five minutes of the restart. A lapse from Baumgartner allowed Upamecano to pounce and his ball to Gnabry was calmly rolled past Gulacsi to restore parity and shift the momentum in Bayern’s favour.
Neuer was forced into a crucial save to deny Romulo soon after, but Bayern soon showed their edge. Harry Kane punished a costly error at the back post, finishing precisely to complete the turnaround and continue his impressive scoring record against Leipzig.
From there, it was all Bayern, with Olise at the heart of things. His corner was powered home by Jonathan Tah, after which the Frenchman sprinted down the right to tee up Pavlovic for a simple finish. Olise then capped his display with a superb curled effort to seal a comprehensive win.
The result condemned Leipzig to another home setback against Bayern, extending their winless run in this fixture at home to 10 matches, while Vincent Kompany’s side marched on in another dominant Bundesliga season.
