Liam Rosenior, Chelsea’s new head coach, is embracing the pressure of leading the West London club, citing its “limitless” potential.
Rosenior, 41, was confirmed as Chelsea’s new boss on Tuesday, taking over from Enzo Maresca.
Rosenior’s appointment marks the fourth permanent manager under Todd Boehly’s ownership since 2022. He’s aware of the pressure but is undeterred, saying, “If I wasn’t willing to take on that pressure and privilege I wouldn’t be here.”
The new coach has drawn inspiration from his time at Strasbourg, where he guided the team to European qualification despite initial doubts. Rosenior believes Chelsea can achieve great things with the right mindset.
Chelsea’s recent slump, with one win in nine Premier League games, is a concern, but Rosenior is focused on turning things around. “We aren’t far away, and that’s really important for the players to know,” he said.
One area for improvement is Chelsea’s discipline, with five red cards in the league this season. Rosenior plans to address this with his players, emphasizing positive reactions to setbacks.
Rosenior’s first challenge is the FA Cup third-round tie against Charlton Athletic on Saturday. He got a reality check on Wednesday, watching Chelsea lose 2-1 at Fulham, with left-back Marc Cucurella sent off.
