Bayer Leverkusen ended Borussia Dortmund’s long unbeaten home record with a 1-0 victory, advancing to the German Cup quarter-finals.

Dortmund had not lost at home since early March, and had beaten Leverkusen 2-1 away on Saturday in the Bundesliga. However, they were undone by hesitant defending that allowed the 20-year-old Maza to score in the 34th minute.

Leverkusen had a chance to extend their lead in the 62nd minute, but Martin Terrier’s side-footed effort was ruled out for offside after a VAR review. Despite this, they held on to secure the win.

RB Leipzig also advanced to the quarter-finals with a 3-1 home victory over FC Magdeburg. Christoph Baumgartner scored twice for Leipzig, who overcame an early penalty conceded to Magdeburg.

Leverkusen and Leipzig are joined in the last eight by Hertha Berlin and St Pauli, who won earlier on Tuesday. Hertha Berlin thumped Kaiserslautern 6-1, with 16-year-old Kennet Eichhorn becoming the youngest goalscorer in the competition’s history.

The quarter-final matches are set to take place, with Bayern Munich facing Union Berlin and holders Stuttgart playing Bochum.
