Brazilian winger could feature against Real Madrid after recovering from hamstring injury
Barcelona have been handed a major lift ahead of Sunday’s clásico at the Santiago Bernabeu, as Raphinha returned to first-team training after a month out through injury.
The Brazilian winger has been sidelined since late September with a hamstring problem sustained in the victory over Real Oviedo.
His recovery had been managed cautiously, with Hansi Flick’s staff setting the Real Madrid fixture as a potential return date. That target now looks achievable after Raphinha joined his teammates on the pitch at the Ciutat Esportiva on Wednesday.
Barcelona confirmed that Raphinha and Ferran Torres both took part in the group session, while defender Andreas Christensen remained absent due to illness.
Although Raphinha is not yet guaranteed to play, club sources said his progress has been encouraging and that medical clearance could come before the weekend. Even if he doesn’t start, his availability would offer Flick a much-needed attacking option on the bench.
Raphinha has been one of the key missing stars for Barcelona during a difficult run of injuries. Other absentees include Gavi, Robert Lewandowski, Dani Olmo, and goalkeeper Joan Garcia, all of whom are expected to miss Sunday’s match.
