Arsenal has initiated discussions with defender Jurrien Timber over a potential new contract.
Arsenal has taken a significant step in securing the future of its talented defender, Jurrien Timber, by opening talks over a new contract.
The 24-year-old Dutch international has been instrumental in the team’s success, showcasing impressive form that has solidified his position as the first-choice right-back under Mikel Arteta.
Timber joined Arsenal in the summer of 2023, when he joined from Ajax in a deal worth £34.4 million.
Despite a promising start being cut short due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the opening game against Nottingham Forest, Timber has made a remarkable recovery. He played a crucial role in the 2024-25 campaign, featuring in 51 matches and continuing his fine form into the current season.
The discussions over a new contract are still in the early stages, but both parties are eager to reach an agreement that would extend Timber’s stay beyond his current deal, which expires in 2028.
In addition to Timber’s potential new deal, Arsenal are also engaged in contract negotiations with England winger Bukayo Saka. There is optimism that Saka will sign a long-term contract soon. Saliba also recently signed a new contract and for Arsenal, this means securing the future of the club is secured.
