Donnarumma, Yamal, Enrique and Gyokeres all claim awards; PSG named club of the year
Ousmane Dembele has won the 2025 men’s Ballon d’Or, capping a glittering season for Paris Saint-Germain on a night when the French champions swept the major honours in Paris.
The 28-year-old forward, who played a central role in PSG’s domestic and European success last season, was presented with the award by the great Ronaldinho, who played for both PSG and Barcelona.
It is so far the highest moment of the Frenchman’s long-embattled career, and he edged out 18-year-old Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal, who finished second, with PSG teammate Vitinha in third.
Yamal, however, did not leave empty-handed. The teenager retained the men’s Kopa Trophy, awarded to the best player under 21, becoming a two-time winner after first lifting it in 2024.
Elsewhere, ex-PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma collected the Yashin Trophy as the best goalkeeper in the world. The Italian’s recognition comes just weeks after the Parisian club offloaded him to Manchester City.
Donnarumma was outstanding in PSG’s treble-winning campaign last season and has made an immediate impact in the Premier League.
Arsenal’s new striker Viktor Gyokeres was recognised as the Golden Boot winner after finishing as Europe’s top scorer, while PSG head coach Luis Enrique claimed the Johan Cruyff Trophy for best manager.
Enrique was absent from the event, as PSG were playing against Marseille in the French south coast at the same time as the event. However, he sent in a video where he stressed the importance of collective achievement, an idea he has made his managerial tenet.
“Thank you to my family, thank you to PSG,” said the Spaniard. “I also want to thank two special people: Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Luis Campos. We have a special relationship. A message to my players who are there: It’s nice to win individual awards but I think the most important thing is the recognition of the fans.”
PSG were also named Club of the Year, in recognition of their dominance across the 2024-25 campaign.
