Cole Palmer went off in the first half of the game against Manchester United and it appears he may have suffered a groin injury.

Cole Palmer’s injury woes have raised significant concerns for Chelsea, with the midfielder being forced off in the first 20 minutes of their match against Manchester United. Palmer has been struggling with fitness issues since the start of the season, and it seems that his groin problem has been a persistent issue.

Despite his discomfort, Palmer started against Manchester United but was eventually substituted.

According to Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, Palmer was not 100% fit before the match. “Cole this morning, did a test to play this game. He was not 100%. It was a fantastic effort for the club, for his team-mates, for the team. Unfortunately, he was not 100%,” Maresca said. This raises questions about why Palmer was risked in the starting lineup, given his ongoing fitness concerns.

Palmer’s groin issue has been bothering him for a while, and it’s reported that he’s been receiving pain injections to manage the discomfort. Despite scans not showing any significant damage, Palmer continues to experience groin discomfort.

The midfielder’s absence could significantly impact Chelsea’s performance, given his vital role in the team. With 40 goals and 26 assists over the last two seasons, Palmer’s contribution to Chelsea’s success cannot be overstated.

Chelsea’s upcoming fixture against Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup might provide an opportunity for Maresca to rest Palmer and other key players. This could be a chance for the team to blood some younger players and give their stars a much-needed break. Ultimately, Chelsea would need to prioritize Palmer’s long-term fitness, even if it means missing out on some short-term gains.
