Striker has trained fully for the first time since before the tournament in positive news to a team dreaming of possibilities
Christian Pulisic has returned to full training with USA after recovering from a calf injury sustained before the start of the World Cup.
The forward had not trained fully since injuring his left calf two days before USA opened their campaign with a 4-1 win over Paraguay. Pulisic started that match but was withdrawn at half-time after aggravating the problem and subsequently remained on the bench for the 2-0 victory over Australia.
His return comes as USA prepare for their third group game against Turkey with little to worry about, having already secured top spot with six points. Mauricio Pochettino can therefore be expected to rotate players and keep them fresh before the knockout phase begins, which means Pulisic may either be given a cameo or just sit out the action until the next round.
Team USA’s performance so far in the competition has the nation dreaming of possibilities, and the excitement has spread across the country. also become increasingly aware of the scale of support generated by the team’s progress.
Forward Folarin Balogun said he was previously unaware of the level of support the team were generating but is now thrilled after watching some videos of supporters gathering across the country to watch matches.
“Just like fans in different parts, watching the games on some big screens, bars and stuff,” Balogun said.
“And you know, every time we score, they were celebrating in different places. I think it’s not something any of us can really comprehend because we’re in it.
“But I think once we’re out of it and kind of get on with our daily lives, I think we’ll be able to see the impact we’ve made, and it’s a beautiful thing.”
