Real Madrid forward poked fun at Barcelona for Champions League exit against Inter Milan

Vinicius Junior and Inigo Martinez were involved in a brief exchange during Sunday’s clásico, where the Real Madrid forward mocked the Barcelona defender for his side’s exit at the hands of Inter Milan in the Champions League semi-finals.

The contentious moment, caught by Movistar Plus, involved an exchange between the two players after Martinez had tackled Vinicius. He then confronted the Madrid forward and accused him of exaggerating the contact:

“You threw yourself, yes you, you threw yourself,” the Barcelona defender said.

Vinicius responded with a reference to Barcelona’s Champions League elimination: “You wanted the Champions League but in the end no, in the end no.”

The interaction was brief and did not escalate further. This recent edition of the clásico carried added tension due to the four point gap between the two sides at the top of La Liga.

Real Madrid entered the match with an advantage over Barcelona, who were already under pressure and seriously disappointed following their Champions League exit to Inter Milan. However, Barcelona soon recovered from an initial 2-0 deficit to win 4-3 and all but seal their 28th La Liga title.
