The 22-year-old Dutch midfielder has been linked to Chelsea for some time, but Tottenham appears to have intensified their pursuit, with German outlets claiming he’s “on the verge” of joining the North London club.
Simons’ future at RB Leipzig might be up, and the club is demanding €70 million for his transfer.
The player has reportedly featured in his final game for the club, having racked up 22 goals and 24 assists in 78 appearances. Chelsea and Tottenham are vying for his signature, with both clubs eager to secure his services before the transfer window closes.
Despite the transfer speculations, Leipzig’s sporting director Marcel Schafer stated that Simons would stay with the club unless a suitable offer is made. RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff also weighed in, suggesting Simons could stay for another year if Chelsea doesn’t increase their offer soon.
As the transfer window deadline approaches, both Chelsea and Tottenham are racing against time to secure Simons’ signature. With Bayern Munich and Inter Milan also reportedly interested, the competition for the talented midfielder is heating up.
