Club have already submitted two bids for the Brentford forward and seen them rejected
Manchester United remain locked in negotiations with Brentford over the signing of Bryan Mbeumo, with the two clubs yet to agree on a fee for the Cameroon international.
The deal has stalled because Brentford are demanding in excess of £65 million for their top scorer. United’s latest bid of £62.5 million for the player has been turned down. An earlier offer of £55 million was also rejected.
United are understood to be seeking a compromise to close the gap, with club officials confident that a deal can be reached in the coming days.
Mbeumo scored 20 Premier League goals last season and is a key target for new manager Ruben Amorim as he reshapes the squad ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
However, Brentford believe they can get a significant fee for a player who has Premier League experience and finished last season as fourth on the scoring charts.
There is also rival interest from Tottenham, which Brentford would be hoping can lead to a bidding war, although Mbeumo has stated that he only wants to move to United.
Mbeumo’s interest in moving to United is believed to be strong, with reports suggesting he supported United as a child and therefore prefers a move to Old Trafford over a reunion with former Brentford head coach Thomas Frank, even if his Tottenham side are competing in the Champions League.
If the transfer is completed, Mbeumo is expected to form part of a two-man attacking midfield partnership with fellow summer signing Matheus Cunha. The duo combined for 35 goals in the Premier League last season and are seen as central to Amorim’s tactical plans at Old Trafford.
United are expected to continue discussions with Brentford this week as they work to secure one of Amorim’s key attacking targets before the start of pre-season.
