Bayern Munich have unfortunately lost Jamal Musiala to another injury, and it begs the question: how will they move on and compete next season, given that the young midfielder is their creative engine?
Bayern Munich had made significant progress under Vincent Kompany in what may be his biggest career job so far. They have reclaimed the Bundesliga title and reached the semifinals of the FIFA Club World Cup. Everything seemed to be going fine ahead of next season, but sadly, it has taken a downturn.
Bayern Munich have lost their creative engine, Jamal Musiala, to another injury spell. The German midfielder suffered a fibula fracture in the Club World Cup quarter-final against PSG after clashing with Donnarumma. The sight of the injury wasn’t for the faint-hearted as Donnarumma turned away in disbelief while other Bayern players had their hands on their heads.
Musiala, who just returned from an injury that kept him on the sidelines for the closing stages of the 24/25 Bundesliga season, will now be sidelined for about 4-5 months, essentially missing the first half of the season.
The injury has definitely paused his career trajectory, and there are doubts about whether or not he can reach his full potential, depending on when he recovers. There is also a cloud of uncertainty around Bayern Munich and a lot of Vincent Kompany to do as he must find a solution to the hole this injury has dug in his vision board..
Bayern would not only be looking to defend their Bundesliga title, they would want to compete continentally and missing Jamal Musiala means there’s extra work to do.
How can Kompany solve this problem?

Ultimately, he has got to rework his tactics as they don’t have a player of Musiala’s quality to directly replace him.
Bayern can rely on Olise as a makeshift 10. The former Crystal Palace winger has had a brilliant first season, scoring 17 goals and 18 assists. Although he’s primarily a right winger, he can function as a 10.
Bayern can also rely on Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry to bolster the attack. Coman has been away from the squad for a while but his performances in the Club World Cup have been impressive. If he can stay on these levels and Gnabry can deliver an impressive outing, Bayern may just perform well in Musiala’s absence.
