Where Arsenal Can Win The Game Against PSG

Arsenal play PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday, and it’s one of the most talked-about events in football this week.

Arsenal made the impossible look easy as they swept Real Madrid away in the quarter finals, winning both home and away. Those Declan Rice free kicks were the talk of the town and right now, Arsenal fans are in seventh heaven.

Coming into the Champions League, the Gunners have one last shot at a trophy with Liverpool sealing the EPL title on Sunday. There are arguments that this might be their best season under the leadership of Mikel Arteta, and winning the UCL will definitely shake the world of football.

Winning the UCL is a dream for Arsenal because they haven’t won any European trophy in their history. To win it this season, they must go through PSG, who have been a formidable side all season.

The Parisians have only lost one game in Ligue 1 ( I sincerely hope they would go unbeaten), and in the UCL, they are also favourites to lift the trophy.

There’s the belief that Arsenal can beat PSG, and here are a few reasons to support it.

Set Pieces

Yes, you read that right. Set-pieces.

The entire season, the gunners have been labeled “set-piece fc” and it’s the biggest place they can hurt PSG.

The Gunners have won games from set-pieces and against Madrid, two goals that changed the tie completely came from a set-piece (Declan Rice free kicks).

This is also interesting because 38% of the goals PSG have conceded this season have come from set-pieces. Enrique has mentioned that he’s not scared of Arsenal’s set-piece threat but if you really ask me, I’ll say if you have a tool in your arsenal, why not use it.

Defensive Masterclass

That’s Arsenal’s second best chance to take the game away from PSG. Defending like their life depends on it.

In the Prem, the Gunners are known to be one of the best sides defensively and this form has translated to Europe. Nobody expected them to go to the Bernabeu and concede just one goal, let alone win, but they did.

The Gunners defend as a pack, wingers help out the fullbacks, midfielders don’t get separated easily so they can keep shape and that defense line is as solid as a rock.

With Gabriel Magalhaes out with injury, Arsenal still kept Madrid at bay in the Bernabeu. Madrid were fighting to get a sniff at goal and their biggest chance came from an error from Saliba. Imagine that.

If Arsenal can bring this into the PSG game, they can definitely spoil the Parisians’ dream of winning a UCL trophy.
