After playing in his last Manchester derby at the weekend, it is now clear that De Bruyne’s exit is imminent.
Earlier, Kevin de Bruyne had announced on his social media that he would be leaving Manchester City after spending a decade at the club.
He will be regarded as one of the best Premier League midfielders of all time, having won multiple trophies at the club, including the prized UEFA Champions League trophy.
This leaves us with the question: what next for Kevin de Bruyne?
As it stands, the Belgian midfield maestro would be looking to exit Europe. Inter Miami are heavily interested in signing the midfielder.
They currently hold the rights to negotiate with him before any MLS club can. However, Inter Miami would find it difficult to complete the signing of the Manchester City player. Signing De Bruyne would mean the club would have to develop a new financial structure after exhausting the league’s allowances to break the salary cap.
Inter Miami already exceeds the salary cap thanks to designated player contracts with Messi, Alba, and Busquets. Signing De Bruyne would mean Inter Miami would break league regulations.
On the flip side, De Bruyne would have to take a significant pay cut to join Inter Miami.
The Belgian midfielder has also indicated interest in playing with Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League.
Ronaldo had also advised to club to sign De Bruyne while he was still under contract with Manchester City. For now, De Bruyne will run down the remaining days of his time with City and make the decision he feels is best for himself and his family.
