Dusan Vlahovic and Juventus move closer to a contract extension after a very positive meeting, despite the striker needing to accept a pay cut from his €12m salary.

According to reports, the meeting between Juventus directors and Vlahovic was successful, opening the door for a renewal that would keep the 26-year-old at the Allianz Stadium long-term.

Vlahovic’s potential commitment to Juventus deson’t come as a total surprise to those who have been paying attention. He famously dug his heels in last summer, resisting several high-profile attempts by the club to sell him to the highest bidder.

Despite the outside noise and the lure of potentially massive signing bonuses elsewhere as a free agent, his goal has remained consistent: proving he belongs in the heart of the Juventus attack.

The contract narrative had been shoved aside recently as Vlahovic focused on recovering from a serious injury. Now that he’s on the verge of returning to full fitness, the hierarchy clearly felt it was the right time to secure his future. With six goals and two assists already to his name in 17 appearances this season, the club knows they are a different beast entirely when their Serbian powerhouse is healthy and motivated.

Of course, there’s no such thing as a simple negotiation when the current terms are worth €12 million per season. To make this new deal work, Vlahovic will have to accept a significant pay cut to better align with the club’s current financial structure.

However, the fact that he is even willing to discuss a lower salary suggests that his desire to stay in Turin outweighs the financial temptation of testing the open market.

As Juventus pushes for a strong finish to the campaign and a return to the Champions League elite, locking down Vlahovic is the ultimate statement of intent. If the paperwork gets finalized, it ends months of speculation that has linked him with moves to Spain and the Premier League.
