Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and Militao also make their return to the national side

Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has been recalled to the Brazil squad for this month’s friendlies against South Korea and Japan.

Vinicius was left out of the squad for September’s World Cup qualifiers due to a suspension which had meant he would miss one of the two games in that window.

His teammate Rodrygo has also made the list, having not played for the national side since March due to injuries and inconsistent form. But the 24-year-old has now turned a corner under Xabi Alonso and returns as Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti assesses his options ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Madrid defender Eder Militao is another player who returns to the squad, after recovering from a serious knee injury that kept him sidelined for much of last season.

Notable absentees for Brazil include Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos, and Barcelona winger Raphinha, who all miss out through injury.

Chelsea’s Joao Pedro is also unavailable through injury but Nottingham Forest’s new boy Igor Jesus makes the list.

Brazil will face South Korea in Seoul on 10 October before meeting Japan in Tokyo on 14 October.
