Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah and Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford join the England squad for World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania.
England has called up Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah and Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford for their final two World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania.
The call-ups come after Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon and keeper Nick Pope withdrew due to injury and concussion, respectively.
Chalobah, who made his England senior debut under Thomas Tuchel in June, could get an opportunity for a second senior cap as Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi is a big doubt with a foot injury. Guehi has reported for international duty but will be assessed at the squad’s base at Tottenham Hotspur’s training ground.
Trevoh Chalobah has been in good form for Chelsea, making 10 Premier League appearances this season and scoring twice.
James Trafford, on the other hand, has yet to make his senior debut but impressed as England’s Under-21s won the European Championship two years ago.
England, who have already qualified for next year’s World Cup finals in North America as group winners, host Serbia at Wembley on Thursday before facing Albania in Tirana on Sunday. Serbia and Albania are battling for second place in the group.
