Arsenal’s contract talks with Leandro Trossard have stalled due to wage demands, raising doubts about the Belgian forward’s long-term future at the Emirates.
Leandro Trossard’s future at Arsenal is looking increasingly uncertain as contract talks between the player and the club have failed to make progress.
Despite initial discussions about a new deal in May, no breakthrough has been made, with Trossard’s wage demands proving to be a major sticking point. Sporting director Andrea Berta is reportedly unimpressed by the financial terms being requested, leaving Trossard’s long-term future at the Emirates in doubt.
The congestion in Arsenal’s forward line, with the club targeting three attacking additions, may also contribute to Trossard’s potential departure.
With Nicolas Jackson, a striker, and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze on the club’s radar, Trossard’s playing time and role in the team may be limited. This could lead to the club considering selling Trossard to balance the books and make room for new signings.
Trossard has previously been the subject of interest from the Saudi Pro League, with Al-Ittihad reportedly tabling a €35 million bid last September. Although the offer was rejected at the time, Arsenal may be more inclined to accept a similar proposal this summer, especially considering Trossard’s age and the stalled contract talks.
At 30, Trossard’s future in north London looks increasingly uncertain. If he fails to lower his salary expectations, he may risk being moved on, potentially to the Saudi Pro League or another interested club. The situation with Trossard bears similarities to that of Thomas Partey, who may also need to reassess his wage demands to secure his future at the club.
