.Tottenham Hotspur ran out 1-0 winners in the pre-season friendly against Arsenal in Hong Kong
This was not the result many fans expected but reality has hit. Tottenham saw out a 1-0 win over Arsenal in their latest pre-season game.
From the start, it was clear that this wasn’t a friendly as both teams went fiercely at it. In the first minute of the game, Odegaard’s shot went wide of the mark, setting the pace for an intense game.
Tottenham came close on three occasions. Pedro Porro’s corner hit the post before coming back to Richarlison who headed the ball straight at Saliba.
Wilson Odobert’s low shot was deflected against the post and wide, and from the resulting corner, the ball fell to Richarlison under the bar, but he contrived to miss the open goal.
As the first half was coming to a close, Tottenham took the lead. Lewis-Skelly was stopped from progressing in the middle of the park and from the halfway line, Pape Sarr let fly after seeing Raya standing in no-man’s-land. Sarr’s outrageous attempt found the back of the net and gave Tottenham the lead.
In the second half, Arsenal piled on the pressure but it wasn’t enough to draw them level.
The Gunners came close through Zubimendi and Havertz as they searched for the leveller. Gyokeres came on for their debut to the delight of Arsenal fans but still, Arsenal weren’t able to get a goal. Tottenham’s defense stood strong, grinding out a 1-0 win.
