Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to add to their squad in the January transfer window

Tottenham Hotspur losing 4-1 to Arsenal has deepened frustration among fans, but the club’s hierarchy is unlikely to question manager Thomas Frank’s future. Instead, they are choosing to back him with funds for the transfer market.

The club has been planning to double down on Frank’s plans, viewing him as a long-term project manager. Frank highlighted the contrast in continuity between Tottenham and Arsenal, noting that the Gunners’ squad has been built over six years, whereas Spurs are still in the early stages of their rebuild.

Despite the relatively healthy budget, Spurs cannot fix every issue at once. Over the next fortnight, they will refine their target lists and identify positions that require immediate attention once the window opens.

An attacker is expected to be one of the first arrivals, with plans to sign at least one forward a priority to sharpen their cutting edge. The club also wants to strengthen the left side of defence, an area that has been under review for several months.

A new midfielder is being discussed internally, and specialist recruitment staff have been tasked with identifying goalkeepers who could provide stronger competition for Guglielmo Vicario.

Frank is expected to have influence over who arrives, with incoming players needing to align with his style and demands. The club’s plan is to deliver stability and long-term success, and it’s unlikely they’ll go back on these plans at this stage.
