Tottenham Hotspur’s Wilson Odobert suffered an injury scare during the Champions League draw with Monaco.
Tottenham Hotspur is facing an anxious wait to determine the extent of Wilson Odobert’s injury, suffered during the Champions League draw with Monaco.
The 20-year-old French winger, who has established himself at Spurs, went down in the second half with what appeared to be a rib issue.
Odobert was replaced by Brennan Johnson, and manager Thomas Frank revealed he’s unsure about the consequences of the injury. “Actually, I don’t know. But of course, we subbed him off because there was some pain. But I don’t know the consequences of it,” Frank said.
This injury comes at a bad time for Spurs, who are already depleted with 10 first-team players unavailable. Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, and Ben Davies didn’t travel to Monaco due to issues picked up during the international break, while Dejan Kulusevski is among the longer-term absentees.
Odobert has started the last four matches across all competitions, moving ahead of Johnson in the pecking order. Any injury absence would be hugely frustrating for Spurs, who need all the firepower they can get.
Spurs’ goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario was instrumental in securing a point against Monaco, making eight saves in a superb performance. Frank turned to Archie Gray at left-back, highlighting the team’s defensive struggles.
The injury concern adds to Spurs’ woes as they prepare to face Everton. They’ll need to manage their squad carefully to ensure key players are ready for the challenges ahead.
