Tottenham lost the super cup final to PSG in a penalty shootout despite leading with two goals for about 84 minutes of regulation time.
Tottenham were so close to making history but they did the most spursy thing ever, they lost it.
Tottenham Hotspur took the world by surprise when they went ahead in the super cup final. Palhinha’s shot was tipped onto the bar and Micky Van der Ven was on hand to tap it into the net before new PSG keeper Chevalier could react.
Eight minutes into the second half, they doubled their lead through Cuti Romero after Chevalier made a mess of what seemed like a simple header. With two goals up and given that PSG just only returned to training, hence why they were a shadow of themselves, you would expect Spurs to grind out a win.
That wasn’t the case.
PSG pulled one goal back in the 85th minute through Lee Kang-In and from that moment, it just felt like Tottenham would break and they did. PSG kept piling the pressure and in dying minutes of extra time, Goncalo Ramos drew the Parisians level, heading home a cross from Dembele.
The equalizer took the game to penalties and PSG ran out 4-3 winners after misses from Van der Ven and Matthys Tel.
