Toni Kroos says Bayern Munich’s dominance in the Bundesliga is no surprise, predicting that this Bundesliga season will be a less exciting one.
Toni Kroos has shared his view on the Bundesliga title race, saying Bayern Munich’s dominance this season comes as no surprise to him.
Bayern Munich have topped the Bundesliga since Matchday 1 and stretched their lead over second-placed RB Leipzig to six points at the weekend.
Kroos, a Germany legend, believes Bayern’s strength and the lack of challengers are the reasons for their comfortable lead. “It doesn’t particularly surprise me that Bayern are pulling away, because on the one hand they are very good themselves, and on the other hand I don’t see a real challenger,” he told the media.
“Leverkusen have undergone a complete overhaul. Dortmund usually struggle with consistency. And I don’t see Leipzig as a classic contender for Bayern either,” he added.
Kroos, who made 173 Bundesliga appearances combined for Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, believes Bayern’s performance in the Champions League is also a testament to their strength. However, he predicts that the Bundesliga season will be less exciting due to Bayern’s dominance.
“That’s why it’s relatively clear what will happen this season. Bayern are, of course, doing very well – you can see that in the Champions League. But in the Bundesliga, unfortunately, it won’t be an exciting year,” Kroos said.
