Tottenham coach Thomas Frank praised his team’s character after a 5‑3 Champions League loss to holders PSG, highlighting the “identity” they’re building despite the defeat.

Thomas Frank hailed Tottenham’s performance against Paris Saint‑Germain as a glimpse of the “identity of the team we want to create,” even though the result was a 5‑3 defeat at the Parc des Princes.

Spurs had taken the lead twice only to see PSG overturn the game for the second time this season after leading them.

The Dane made five changes from the side that collapsed 4‑1 at Arsenal on Sunday, reshaping the formation and demanding a reaction from his players.

“Pleased with the performance. It was the reaction I wanted from the players and from the team,” Frank said. “We responded well and bounced back. That’s crucial after a bad performance.”

He added, “Today there was more identity of the team we want to create. More character, personality, aggressiveness – three words you need… no matter how you want to play, whatever formation.” The result left Tottenham in 16th place with eight points from five games, still in striking distance of the play‑off zone.

PSG moved into second place on goal difference, two points ahead of Manchester City in ninth. PSG coach Luis Enrique noted, “We’ve pretty much booked a top‑24 place. It was a very tough match… but it was a complete match.” He also pointed out that his side has not fielded a first‑choice team this season.

Vitinha’s spectacular equalizer just before halftime earned Frank’s admiration. “A little bit of magic, not into the top corner but into the top, top corner,” he said, adding, “We played against a decent team. They have the Ballon d’Or winner and the next one playing in midfield, Vitinha. Wow! What a player.”

Luis Enrique responded with a relaxed tone, “He was today, as usual, sensational. He has personality.”

Spurs now focus on securing at least a play‑off spot, while PSG look to keep their momentum in the league phase.
