Liverpool and Arsenal have taken the top 2 spots in the Premier League, leaving just three spots up for grabs.

Six teams from the Premier League will feature in the Champions League next season, and Liverpool and Arsenal have confirmed their spot, with Tottenham also entering the tournament by winning the Europa League.

The other teams battling for a Champions League place need to secure a top 5 finish in the Premier League, and it is a very tough battle for the remaining three places. Manchester City, Newcastle United, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are in this race, occupying 3rd to 7th place. They are all separated by one point, and with one game left, they have it all to play for.

Coming into the final game, Manchester City take on Fulham while Newcastle United take on Everton. Aston Villa travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United, while the biggest fixture in the top 4 race takes place at the City Ground between Chelsea and Nottingham Forest.

If Manchester City and Newcastle United secure wins in their final fixtures, they will maintain their current spots and the same goes for Chelsea, guaranteeing all clubs a place in the Champions League next season. This will automatically mean that Villa will play in the Europa League and Forest in the Europa Conference League.

But if Forest win against Chelsea, they may get Champions League Football if Villa lose or draw at Old Trafford, condemning Chelsea to Europa League or most likely sending them back to the Conference League.

Manchester need a win to secure UCL football but a draw would suffice as long as Chelsea and Forest don’t win by more than 4 goals.

It’s a very tricky situation to be in currently. To avoid these permutations, every team has a clear objective, they need to win tomorrow.
