Tension is reportedly brewing at Barcelona after an incident involving manager Hansi Flick and teenage star Lamine Yamal, according to reports in Spain.

Sources at Cadena SER claim that the friction arose when Yamal arrived late to a pre-match team session ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain.

Flick, who is known for his strict disciplinary standards, was said to be unhappy with the 18-year-old’s behaviour and initially decided to leave him out of the starting lineup.

However, the situation became more complicated when the club’s sporting director Deco intervened. According to the report, Deco urged Flick to reconsider, arguing that Yamal’s absence would weaken the team for such a crucial fixture.

In the end, the winger featured from the start, playing the full 90 minutes, a decision that reportedly frustrated the German coach.

Flick is said to have felt undermined by Deco’s intervention. The former Bayern Munich and Germany manager has previously sanctioned the likes of Jules Kounde, Raphinha, Marcus Rashford, and Inaki Pena for similar breaches.

In this case, however, Yamal avoided punishment, leading to murmuring among some members of the squad.
