Strasbourg overturned a first‑half deficit, with Emmanuel Emegha’s equaliser and Samir El Mourabet’s first senior goal giving them a 2‑1 win over Crystal Palace in the Conference League.
Strasbourg and Crystal Palace opened the match in a cagey, low‑tempo affair, fitting for two sides that had kept clean sheets before half‑time all season in the Conference League.
The stalemate was broken ten minutes before the break when Jean‑Philippe Mateta held off Lucas Høgsberg and threaded a pass to Tyrick Mitchell, who slotted the ball into the far corner, his fifth goal in more than 200 Palace appearances.
Palace almost doubled their lead moments later. Goalkeeper Mike Penders wandered out of his area, leaving Ismaila Sarr to fire a long‑range shot that struck the inside of the post. Penders quickly redeemed himself, pulling off a solid save from Yeremy Pino five minutes before half‑time.
Eight minutes after the restart, the hosts levelled. Diego Moreira sprinted down the left and delivered a perfect cross for captain Emmanuel Emegha, who side‑footed home his seventh goal of the season past Dean Henderson.
The momentum swung to Strasbourg, but they were gifted a let‑off when Penders again strayed off his line and Adam Wharton’s effort hit the crossbar with an open goal.
The turning point arrived with 13 minutes left. Julio Enciso’s 20‑yard free‑kick hit the crossbar, and the rebound fell to 19‑year‑old Samir El Mourabet, who calmly slotted the ball home for his first senior strike.
Henderson kept Palace in contention by tipping Kendry Paez’s point‑blank effort over the bar.
Strasbourg held on to secure all three points, moving to 10 points from four games in the Conference League. Palace’s five‑match unbeaten run ended, leaving them four points adrift of the leaders.
