Stefan De Vrij says ‘Inter Didn’t Deserve Serie A Title’

Inter Milan defender Stefan De Vrij made a few comments after his team lost out on the Scudetto by one point.

Stefan de Vrij, Inter Milan’s Dutch defender, admitted that his team “didn’t deserve” to win the Serie A title after falling short on the final day. Despite securing a controlled 2-0 victory over Como, Inter Milan was unable to catch up to Napoli, who won by the same scoreline against Cagliari.

“We knew we were depending on the result of another match,” De Vrij reflected. “We couldn’t do more than what we did today. “Now we have to leave it behind us.”

De Vrij emphasized that whoever tops the table after 38 matches deserves the title, stating, “In the end, we didn’t deserve it. Whoever’s top of the table after 38 matches deserves it.”

De Vrij also acknowledged that Inter Milan could have done more in the league, but they’re looking forward to ending the season on a high note in the Champions League. “There’s a feeling that we could have done a lot more in the league,” he said.

“Now we have a massive desire to play a great final next week. We’ve done very well in the Champions League, and we’ll do everything well to end with a bang.”

Inter Milan finished the season in second place with 81 points, having won 24 matches, drawn 9, and lost 5 out of 38 games. Despite the disappointment, De Vrij’s comments highlight the team’s determination to finish the season strongly.
