Tottenham Hotspur will be without captain Son Heung-min for the first leg of their UEFA Europa League semi-final against Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt.

Son has been sidelined since April 10 due to a foot injury sustained during a 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Despite initial hopes for his return, manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed that Son is still training separately from the main squad and will not feature in Thursday’s match.

Postecoglou expressed optimism about Son’s recovery, stating, “He’s improving and hopefully we can get him back soon.”

Son’s absence is a significant blow for Spurs, who are relying on the Europa League as their primary route to European qualification next season, given their current 16th-place standing in the Premier League.

The South Korean forward has contributed 11 goals in 43 appearances this season, though he has not scored from open play since January 23.

Tottenham will also be without defender Radu Dragusin, who is recovering from an ACL injury.

However, the team will see the return of defenders Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, bolstering their backline.

Bodø/Glimt, meanwhile, face their own challenges, with several key players missing due to injuries and suspensions.

Notably, captain Patrick Berg and midfielder Hakon Evjen are suspended after accumulating yellow cards, and striker Andreas Helmersen is also unavailable following a red card in their quarter-final match against Lazio.

The first leg of the semi-final will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday, May 1, with the return leg scheduled for May 8 in Norway.
