The Liverpool boss has his thoughts fully set on Leicester ahead of Sunday’s game at the King Power Stadium
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has revealed that his attentions are not on Liverpool’s imminent historical title win.
The Reds are close to winning their 20th league title, which would see them equal Manchester United’s tally. Slot’s side can seal the trophy as early as Sunday if they win against Leicester and rivals Arsenal lose to Ipswich.
However, Slot is adamant that talk about the title win is not on his mind ahead of Sunday’s game.
“My thoughts are not on that at all,” said Slot. “My thoughts are, as always, on Leicester and on our team: how to improve, what can we do better.
“We couldn’t do many things better in the first half against West Ham [United] but we could do a lot of things better in the second half. So, during the start of the week we have worked on that a lot and now we are working towards Leicester.
“One game at a time and influence the one we can influence, and that’s the Leicester game.”
Slot also mentioned that right back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who returned to the side this week ahead of the trip to the King Power Stadium, is likely to come off the bench against the Foxes.
In the England international’s absence, Conor Bradley started for the Reds. However, Slot added that Bradley also has trouble playing 90 minutes, so he is likely to start and then be replaced in the second half by Alexander-Arnold.
“Trent is not [ready] to start but if things go well today and tomorrow, he might, might, be on the bench,” said Slot.
“But definitely not to start because he is out for five-and-a-half weeks and this is today probably his first session with the team.
“It was Wednesday I think he did parts of the team session. So he’s not able to start but hopefully he can be able to join us because for Conor [Bradley], he has been out for a long time so for him to play 90 isn’t easy as well.”
