Reds are nine games unbeaten but performances have been unconvincing
Arne Slot believes criticism that Liverpool have become dull and boring is fair but said context is required.
The Premier League’s defending champions have struggled to create chances in attack of recent, and notably kept majority of the possession in the first half against Fulham but only kept shifting the ball sideways.
“I find it really hard to hear but it’s not that I would completely disagree,” said Slot. “I would use different words and I would take certain things into account. I want to win as many trophies as I can but I think I am also known for the fact that my teams always try to play attacking football and I can only say they’re trying to do so.”
Liverpool were in dreadful form last autumn, losing game after game, and Slot had to reorganise his team to focus more on shutting goals out. Results have improved since, with Liverpool currently nine games unbeaten, but performances have been unconvincing, although it hasn’t helped that they are currently missing Alexander Isak, Mohamed Salah and Hugo Ekitike.
Slot said his side weren’t doing too badly when performances were weighed against other sides in the league.
“We are struggling to create a lot of chances,” said Liverpool’s coach. “But we are not the only team that struggles to create a lot of chances. I don’t think the number we create is that different to some other teams that are doing really well.
“Of course we have to find answers to that and we haven’t found enough yet but we are working on that every single day. We still have a lot to play for in the Premier League, and we’re still in the FA Cup and the Champions League.”
