Borussia Dortmund returned to winning ways in the Champions League, thrashing Villarreal 4‑0.

Borussia Dortmund lit up the Westfalenstadion, beating Villarreal 4‑0 thanks to Karim Adeyemi, Daniel Svensson and a brace from Serhou Guirassy.

The win snapped a shaky run and gave Niko Kovač’s side a confident boost in the group stage.

The night started with both sides probing. Villarreal looked to strike on the break, but Tajon Buchanan’s goal was ruled offside. Dortmund’s build‑up was sloppy, and Marcel Sabitzer’s 25‑minute shot was comfortably gathered by Luiz Junior.

Before halftime Villarreal threatened with a crafty set‑piece from Pape Gueye that flashed over. Dortmund finally broke the deadlock when Guirassy bundled in a corner.

The second half turned sour for Villarreal after Juan Foyth was sent off for handling Adeyemi’s shot on the line. Davide Massa awarded a penalty; Guirassy forced a save from Luiz Junior and smashed in the rebound. Adeyemi added a third in the 58th minute with a slick one‑two and deflected finish.

In stoppage time Jobe Bellingham and Pascal Groß combined on the right, and Svensson headed home the fourth to complete the rout.
