Napoli’s Scott McTominay calls for calm after a shocking 6-2 loss to PSV in the Champions League, emphasizing the need to move on and improve.
Napoli’s Scott McTominay has urged his team to remain calm after their shocking 6-2 loss to PSV in the Champions League. The Scotland international scored a brace, but his team suffered an embarrassing defeat away at PSV.
McTominay told UEFA, “It’s football, you have to take it on the chin. We have to defend better when we know we’re down to 10 men, to be a little bit more than what we showed in the last 10-15 minutes of the game.”
The Napoli star emphasized the need to move on from the defeat, saying, “In football, there’s always another game coming quick. So, for us, you have to remove the feelings and the hurt from this evening and continue to try and improve.”
PSV scored three goals in the final ten minutes, turning the game around. McTominay described it as “quite strange,” saying, “It was just like, bang, bang, and we were 2-1 down. We’d been playing reasonably well. But that’s football. It happens.”
McTominay stressed the importance of staying calm and focused, saying, “It’s a long season. For us, we just have to be calm. We can’t go crazy and think about too many different things. It’s one match at a time. I’ve always said that throughout my career.”
The Napoli midfielder is known for his leadership qualities, and his teammates look up to him for guidance. Antonio Conte has praised McTominay, calling him a “complete” and “versatile” player.
