Italian club enters race for winger amid interest from rivals Napoli
Juventus are preparing to hold talks with Manchester United as they push to sign winger Jadon Sancho this summer.
The two clubs are expected to hold a video call on Wednesday to discuss the terms of a potential deal, according to Sky Italy.
The Italian giants are hoping to sign Sancho ahead of rivals Napoli, who are also in the race for the 25-year-old. United want to sell Sancho and are said to value him at around £25 million.
Sancho joined United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for £73 million but the player has fallen far short of expectations. Having spent the past year and a half on loan at Dortmund and then Chelsea, the English winger has just one year left on his contract.
United hold an option to extend his contract by a further year but will almost certainly not do so.
Sancho’s loan at Chelsea last season ended on a sour note, with the London club opting to pay a £5 million penalty to cancel their obligation to buy him permanently. Talks had taken place for between Chelsea and the player for a permanent deal but no agreement was reached, reportedly due to Sancho’s refusal to lower his enormous wages to fit Chelsea’s pay structure.
Both Juventus and Napoli are likely to require Sancho to accept a pay cut if a move to Italy is to happen.
