Liverpool winger’s comment follows some public calls he has made in the past in support of an end to the crisis in Gaza
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has publicly challenged Uefa after the European football governing body posted a tribute to a recently deceased footballer.
The Palestinian player, Suleiman al-Obeid – also known as the “Palestinian Pele” – was killed in an Israeli attack on southern Gaza, according to the Palestine Football Association.
Uefa posted a tribute to the player on social media describing him as “a talent who gave hope to countless children, even in the darkest of times”.
Salah responded asking: “Can you tell us how he died, where and why?”
The Liverpool winger’s comment follows some public calls he has made in the past in support of an end to the crisis in Gaza.
In 2023 Salah also posted a message on social media saying: “It is not always easy to speak in times like this. There has been too much violence and too much heartbreak and brutality.
“The escalations in the recent weeks is unbearable to witness. All lives are sacred and must be protected. The massacres need to stop. Families are being torn apart.”
