Bayern Munich confirms Sacha Boey has joined Galatasaray on loan for the rest of the season, with an option to buy included.
Bayern Munich have officially confirmed that Sacha Boey has left the club to join Galatasaray on a loan deal until the end of the season. The move marks a return to familiar surroundings for the French full-back, who previously enjoyed a successful spell with the Turkish giants.
The 25-year-old’s temporary switch includes an option for Galatasaray to make the deal permanent. Bayern Munich announced the agreement on Thursday evening, bringing an end to weeks of speculation surrounding Boey’s immediate future in Munich.
Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl explained the reasoning behind the decision. According to Eberl, Boey’s prior experience in Istanbul means he should settle quickly and regain momentum without a lengthy adaptation period.
A key factor in the move is the opportunity for regular, high-level football. Boey is expected to feature in Galatasaray’s Champions League play-off ties against Juventus, as well as in their push for the Süper Lig title.
Bayern originally signed Boey from Galatasaray in January 2024 for a reported fee of €30 million. The club viewed him as a long-term solution at full-back, but limited opportunities have prompted a short-term departure. Since arriving in Munich, Boey has made 38 appearances for Bayern, scoring once and registering five assists. The loan spell now gives him the chance to rediscover form and consistency as he looks to reignite his career.
