Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior admitted his side lacked momentum and control as they suffered a heavy Champions League exit against PSG.
Liam Rosenior acknowledged that Chelsea failed to meet expectations following their heavy defeat to PSG in the UEFA Champions League round of 16.
Chelsea were beaten 3–0 at Stamford Bridge, sealing an 8–2 aggregate loss that confirmed their exit from the competition in disappointing fashion. After the match, Rosenior admitted his side had hoped to offer a stronger challenge but ultimately fell short against a superior PSG team that dominated possession across both legs.
He pointed to the importance of momentum in football, suggesting Chelsea allowed PSG to take control too easily without forcing them to work for it, which only boosted the visitors’ confidence.
Rosenior highlighted a costly early mistake that led to the opening goal from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, noting that individual errors at the highest level are often punished severely.
He also referenced a stunning long-range effort from Bradley Barcola, admitting that while PSG did not create many chances, they were clinical when it mattered, something Chelsea failed to replicate.
Despite the setback, Rosenior emphasised that he understands the expectations of Chelsea supporters and their desire for immediate success, adding that both he and his players are determined to learn from the defeat and deliver better performances in the future.
