Club have already signed Ronaldo’s Portuguese teammate Joao Felix this summer, and may be lured by the prospect of a potent attacking trio
Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly pressing Al-Nassr to sign former Manchester United and current Marseille striker Mason Greenwood ahead of the Saudi Pro League transfer window deadline on September 11.
The 23-year-old Greenwood enjoyed a stellar season in Ligue 1 last term, finishing as joint top scorer alongside Ousmane Dembele with 21 goals and helping Marseille qualify for the Champions League.
Sources claim Ronaldo, who recently extended his contract with Al-Nassr, has personally backed the move. The Portuguese maestro believes Greenwood’s talents can considerably strengthen the squad.
Al-Nassr have already signed Ronaldo’s Portuguese teammate Joao Felix this summer, and may be lured by the prospect of a potent attacking trio of Ronaldo, Felix and Greenwood.
The club were recently beaten by Al-Ahli in the Saudi Super Cup final in Hong Kong. Ronaldo scored in normal time and both he and Felix later converted from the spot in the shootout after a 2-2 draw in normal time, but it was not enough to prevent Al-Nassr from losing 5-3 on penalties.
The defeat extended a frustrating run for the Portuguese forward, who is still lacking a major trophy since moving to Riyadh in early 2023, having lost three consecutive finals.
Greenwood’s Manchester United career was cut short in 2023 after a long case of domestic violence, but he has since rebuilt his career away from England, first moving on loan to Getafe, and then switching to Marseille on a permanent basis last summer.
