Portugal international wants to “keep pushing” as he nears first major trophy with Al-Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo is very happy in Saudi Arabia and will not be leaving the country to play elsewhere, the 41-year-old has said.
Ronaldo made the news earlier this month after he boycotted two games with Al-Nassr, apparently in protest for the club’s failure to sign players in the January window when other clubs were strengthening.
The Portuguese star has a trophy-laden career and is a serial winner, but is yet to win a major trophy with Al-Nassr three years after joining the club from Manchester United.
His decision to boycott two games led to talk that he could be leaving Saudi Arabia, but Ronaldo has squashed those rumours.
“I’m very happy,” Ronaldo said on Saturday. “As I say so many times, I belong to Saudi Arabia. “It’s a country that has welcomed me very well, and my family and my friends. I’m happy here, I want to continue here.”
Al-Nassr are currently top of the Saudi Pro League table, one point clear of Al-Hilal with 12 games to go.
“The most important thing is we keep pushing [for the league title],” Ronaldo said. “We are there at the top. We do our job, we win, make pressure, let’s see at the end of the season.”
