Julian Brandt is attracting interest from Roma as the Italian side prepare for the expected departure of Paulo Dybala.

Roma are reportedly lining up a move for Julian Brandt as they prepare for changes in their attacking midfield. The 29-year-old is said to be on the club’s shortlist as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the summer transfer window.

Reports suggest that Roma view Brandt as a potential replacement for Paulo Dybala, who is expected to leave the Italian club when his contract expires. The Argentine’s likely departure has prompted the Serie A side to explore creative options in midfield.

Initial contacts are believed to have already taken place between Brandt’s representatives and Roma officials. The discussions indicate that the Italian capital club are serious about securing the German international’s services.

Brandt has made over 300 appearances for Borussia Dortmund during his seven-year spell, becoming an experienced figure in the squad. However, it has already been confirmed that he will leave the club this summer when his contract runs out.

Dortmund chief Lars Ricken previously confirmed that both parties agreed not to extend the deal. He praised Brandt’s contribution, highlighting his longevity and professionalism during his time at the club.

Ricken also suggested that the separation could be beneficial for both sides, describing it as an opportunity for a fresh start. He emphasised that the club were parting ways with respect after the midfielder’s significant contribution over the years.

If the move materialises, Brandt would follow former Dortmund players Mats Hummels and Donyell Malen in making the switch after leaving BVB.
