Roma forward Artem Dovbyk is set to miss at least two months after suffering a serious thigh injury that requires surgery, ruling him out until April.
Dovbyk is facing an extended spell on the sidelines after reports confirmed he will undergo surgery on his left thigh following his latest injury setback. The Ukraine international is expected to be out of action for a minimum of two months, with Roma preparing to cope without the 28-year-old until at least April.
Medical examinations revealed that Dovbyk has suffered a myotendinous lesion in his left thigh. The surgical procedure is scheduled to take place in Finland on Monday. The operation will be carried out at the same specialist clinic where Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini underwent surgery earlier this season for a high-grade muscle injury.
Dovbyk sustained the injury on January 6 during Roma’s 2-0 victory over Lecce. Despite coming on as a substitute, he managed to score, underlining his impact before being sidelined again.
His enforced absence has also ended Roma’s plans to sell him during the January transfer window, as the club had been open to listening to offers for the former Girona forward.
Roma have already moved to strengthen their attacking options by signing Robinio Vaz and Donyell Malen this month, with Dovbyk having scored three goals in 17 appearances across all competitions this season.
