Roma is negotiating with Chelsea for a permanent transfer of French defender Axel Disasi.
Roma has opened talks with Chelsea to sign Axel Disasi on a permanent deal in January. The 27-year-old French defender has four caps for France and is currently part of Chelsea’s “bomb squad” alongside Raheem Sterling.
Disasi, who joined Chelsea from AS Monaco in 2023 for £38.8 million, spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa. He is available for either a permanent sale or loan, with AC Milan and Barcelona also interested.
Roma’s existing positive dialogue with Chelsea could aid their pursuit, having shown interest in young attacker Tyrique George this summer. However, Lyon and Paris FC are also competing for Disasi’s signature.
Chelsea’s six international loan spots are already filled under FIFA regulations, making a permanent transfer more likely. Disasi’s wage of £80,000 a week might be a hurdle for potential buyers.
With Disasi out of favour under Enzo Maresca, Chelsea is open to selling him. Roma, AC Milan, and other clubs see an opportunity to secure a quality defender at a reasonable price.
