Roma Fans Demand ‘Revolution’ After Heavy Defeat to Inter Milan

AS Roma vs Atalanta

Roma supporters call for major changes after a 5-2 defeat to Inter Milan, with criticism aimed at coach Gian Piero Gasperini, players, and club ownership.

Frustration is growing among Roma supporters following their 5-2 defeat to Inter Milan in Serie A, with many fans calling for a revolution at the club. The loss, suffered on Easter Monday, has dealt a major blow to head coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s hopes of securing Champions League qualification.

Roma were outclassed at San Siro despite goals from Gianluca Mancini and Lorenzo Pellegrini. Inter responded emphatically, with Lautaro Martínez scoring twice, while Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Marcus Thuram, and Nicolò Barella also found the net.

The result leaves Roma sixth in the standings with seven matches remaining in the 2025–26 season. Rivals such as Juventus and Como 1907 could extend their advantage depending on their respective fixtures, further complicating Roma’s push for a top-four finish.

Many supporters have directed their anger toward Gasperini, pointing out that he has already lost 11 league matches in his first season. The disappointment has been compounded by Roma’s round-of-16 exit from the UEFA Europa League at the hands of Bologna.

Some fans compared the current situation to the dismissals of former managers José Mourinho and Daniele De Rossi, arguing that both were removed despite achieving better results. Social media reactions suggested that Gasperini’s tenure has not lived up to expectations.

Others criticised the tactical approach, claiming Roma attempted to play on equal terms rather than adopting a more cautious counter-attacking strategy. A number of supporters even expressed nostalgia for former coach Claudio Ranieri.

The players themselves were also targeted, with fans questioning the performances of several senior figures and suggesting the squad requires a significant overhaul. Some argued that the current group lacks the quality needed to compete consistently at the top level.

Criticism extended beyond the pitch, with sections of the fanbase blaming the club’s ownership and management. Supporters accused the hierarchy of prioritising financial stability and stadium development over on-field success, increasing pressure on Roma as the season enters its decisive phase.
