Roma secured a 2-0 win over Torino, with Donyell Malen scoring on his debut and Paulo Dybala ending a three-month goal drought.
Malen, who joined Roma from Aston Villa earlier this week, was instrumental in the victory, scoring in the 26th minute after a beautiful pass from Dybala.
Malen initially thought he had scored in the 23rd minute, but the goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR review. However, he made no mistake in the 26th minute, sweeping past Torino goalkeeper Alberto Paleari to score.
Dybala, who had been struggling to find the back of the net, finally broke his drought in the 72nd minute, neatly finishing from close range to double Roma’s lead. The Argentine star had been in excellent form, providing an assist for Malen’s goal and showcasing his exceptional skill.
Torino pushed hard for an equalizer, but Roma’s defense held strong, with Valentin Lazaro’s shot being saved by Mile Svilar. Roma’s victory avenged their 3-2 defeat to Torino in the Coppa Italia five days earlier.
Malen, who turned 27 on Monday, celebrated his birthday in style with a dream debut. Dybala’s resurgence is also a welcome boost for Roma, who are looking to cement their fourth-place position in Serie A.
The win marks Roma’s third consecutive Serie A victory, and they will be looking to extend their winning streak in their next match. Torino, on the other hand, will be disappointed with the loss, but they will be looking to bounce back in their next game.
