“Going to the World Cup is a dream but I have to play well first,” 19-year-old admits

Real Madrid forward Endrick is happy to play in any position for Lyon after joining the French club on loan in January and getting off to a flying start.

Endrick has impressed in his first few games, scoring a hat-trick against Metz last weekend.

“Those who know football know that my position isn’t on the right wing, I’m a number 9,” Endrick told L’Équipe. “But I want to play and I’m going to do everything to play.

“If they tell me to play on the right, I’ll do everything to help the team. On the right, the coach [Paulo Fonseca] gives me freedom. He knows I’m a number 9, but he needs me on the right.”

Endrick struggled for game time at Madrid and with the World Cup approaching, the 19-year-old decided to seek regular game time elsewhere to give himself maximum chances of making the Brazil squad.

“I came here to be happy, to play,” Endrick said. “Going to the World Cup is a dream and God willing, I’ll play in it, but my mission here is to play well and if I achieve that at my club, I can qualify for the national team.”
