Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain placed first and second respectively on the list of 2023/24 UEFA prize money winners.

The figures, published by UEFA in their latest financial report, show each of the big clubs’ total earnings in the elite competition.

Real Madrid received $138.8m in total after winning their 15th Champions League title. PSG received €124.4m, finishing second place despite the club exiting the campaign at the semi-final stage. The French club’s earnings were a few million euros more than those of Borussia Dortmund, who earned €120.7m despite reaching the final.

The remaining semi-finalists, Bayern Munich, finished fourth at €120.4, just €0.3m less than Borussia Dortmund.

Manchester City were the highest-ranked Premier League team, earning €110.4m to finish fifth. They were followed in sixth place by Barcelona, who received a €98.4m slice of the pie.

The other English team to make it to the top ten were Arsenal, earning €94m after their quarter-final finish. This was a substantial boost for the club in comparison to the relatively paltry €25m they earned from their 2022/23 Europa League round-of-16 finish.

Liverpool and Manchester United were missing from the list of the largest earners, having played in the Europa League and failed to qualify for the knockout stages respectively.

How is the UEFA prize money for clubs calculated?

The UEFA prize money is calculated through a combination of fixed payments for participation and additional rewards based on performance and coefficient ranking. The coefficient ranking is a system that measures a club’s performance in Europe over a 10-year period.
